In the night, in the mystery of it Keep me wide awake and listening for it Feel the heat but don't embrace it Keep me on my feet, but I can't take it no I feel, I am feeling frayed We are wide awake Then you stop where you stand Don't look because I'll be looking for the end Dreaming but with open eyes Seemingly we may capsize I feel, I am feeling frayed We are wide awake Touch from you is setting me on fire I'm awash in dew-laden desire I look at you forever, and alone now I'll be holding on, but I will speak loud

Far away and long ago kings in castles high and low and things of beauty to behold all worth more than their weight in gold… Finely crafted gilded glass sculpted moldings iron casts and tables set with cloth and wine essentials to a vaster time. Cawing clawing invisibly the axes cry the sledgehammers sing. Lying dogs awake from their sleep when leaning towers crumble like teeth. And the pages turn before they quickly burn to a salty pile of prisms and wires. Values mark their shift in course innovate without remorse prepare the cannons, load the guns a new world order has begun… Sliver, sterile, steadfast, and clean the standard for a brave new machine. In fast-producing efficiency the lights will flash in florescent green and the tables turn before they quickly burn to a salty pile of prisms and wires. Far away and long ago stars will set and suns will glow.

And there's moments when We both get confused We can't understand the ways in which we use Use our tongue and our minds Yeah we're two different kinds I just seemed to have killed something when I thought I was being kind Yeah I thought I was being kind But I can't understand ya Is every move here just in vein? If I cannot plant a Seed in your mind how will we gain? So Cut the words from your tongue (free the words) Cut the words from your tongue (free the words) Speak the truth to me love I want to see your blood Take another swig Or another hit It's all relative What we're seeking now may have gone But we could find something new (something new) A new ground that is true To stand on, if we understand both who we are Who we really really are But I can't understand ya Is every move here just in vein? If I cannot plant a Seed in your mind how will we gain? So Cut the words from your tongue (free the words) Cut the words from your tongue (free the words) Speak the truth to me love I want to see your blood And oh it grows, It grows inside of us all Oh and I know I know it's hard to fall Fall from ourselves Oh hail Mother Mary, I can't help these things I'm falling far from grace and can't stand that place Outside of your heart But I can't understand ya Is every move here just in vein? If I cannot plant a Seed in your mind how will we gain? So Cut the words from your tongue (free the words) Cut the words from your tongue (free the words) Speak the truth to me love I want to see your blood I can't under, I can't understand ya I can't under, I can't understand (your heart) I can't under, I can't understand ya I can't under, I can't understand (your heart) Cut the words from your tongue Cut the words from your tongue Cut the words from your tongue Bleed for me love

We’re in paradise falling through the hall of power travel as one There’s no dying light everyone’s a perfect God holding the sky to remain here You tried so hard to be a star but you can’t hold it you’re going to lose it all no matter who you are trouble breeds more trouble but you can lose it you can lose it all if you can brace the fall step forward falling in line Remember me? I was standing all alone drinking the sea When you stepped in Perfect tide and perfect breath Calling for me To remain here I dove into the pail of light With my clothes on to lose it all I didn’t know I had it all Drumming in my body is the old life I’m going to watch it die If I can brace the fall step forward falling in line We’re in paradise

about

The making of OIM: Vol I. compilation is a collaboration between Oaktown Indie Mayhem founder Sarah Sexton, Oakland Drops Beats founder & musician Angelica Tavella, and producer & engineer Jeff Saltzman, with special thanks to mixer Mikael Johnston of Class A Recording.

Thirteen local bands were given three days to record a song with Producer Jeff Saltzman in his studio in Oakland – using the same room, same equipment, and same level of Jeff’s extreme sass. The compilation is the debut release for OIM Records, a new label focusing on indie rock in Oakland, the Bay Area, and one day beyond. There will be a special limited edition run of vinyl and cassettes.
